Open access (OA) publishing is a model of publishing that makes scholarly research freely available freely available and reusable on the web. OA promotes broader access to research by removing price and permission barriers

Types of OA publishing models:

• Gold OA: Research is made freely available directly by the publisher in an open access journal or monograph.
• Hybrid OA – Subscription journals offer the option for authors to make individual articles open access, usually for a fee.
• Diamond/Platinum OA – Articles are freely available to readers and authors do not pay any fees.
• Bronze OA – Articles are free to read on the publisher’s site, but without a clear open license.
