What is a peer-reviewed article?
Answer
Peer review is a publication process in which research articles written by experts are evaluated by other specialists in the same academic or professional field before being published.
*Materials such as letters, commentaries, news reports, obituaries, and book reviews are typically not peer-reviewed, even when they appear in journals that use peer review for research articles.
To find peer-reviewed articles in the library catalog:
- Perform your Search
- Scroll down to Content Type
- Select Peer Reviewed

Most library databases include a peer review filter much like the one above that restricts results to journals that publish research articles reviewed by experts.
