Can I browse books in Hannah Arendt's personal library?

Answer

Great question! While the collection itself is in closed stacks, there are a number of ways to access these books.

Start by searching our catalog in the advanced mode using the subject : "Hannah Arendt Personal Library." You will pull up a list of more than 3700 titles that you can browse.

If you would like to see pdfs of the marginalia in many of these books, there may be a pdf of this linked in the catalog record, or you can search the Hannah Arendt Personal Library in Digital Commons, our institutional repository.

If you would like to request a book from this collection, please complete our Special Collections Request Form at least a day before your visit so that we have time to prepare the materials for you. Our reading room is located in room 305, and it is open Monday through Friday from 11am -1 pm.
