How do I get a library job?
Answer
- Apply: Jobs are usually posted on Handshake near the end of each semester. Last-minute openings are rare, but you’re always welcome to ask in person.
- Interview: If selected, you’ll be invited to discuss the role, share your class schedule, and ask questions.
- Scheduling: Priority goes to returning workers. New hires are based on schedule availability. We will send you an email with a draft schedule or to let you know if we are unable to hire you.
Most student jobs are in Public Services, which includes working the circulation and reserves desks or shelving books.
Other roles include Inter-Library Loan, Cataloging, Periodicals, and Archives.
